Kentucky Cooking with Bobbi Smith Bryant

September 22, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free

Butler Books is pleased to announce that Bobbie Smith Bryant is to be the featured speaker, sponsored by the Anderson County Public Library, in September based upon her recently published cookbook, Passions of the Black Patch: Cooking and Quilting in Western Kentucky. Her presentation, Cooking the Kentucky Way, is open to the public and will be held Tuesday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, located 160 Township Square in Lawrenceburg.

Many area residents may recognize this author through her work with local citizens in improving their hometowns. Bryant is a community development advisor for the Kentucky League of Cities.

In her personal life, Bryant is a rising Kentucky author, with two published works and a third to arrive later this year. She also served as co-producer on Farming in the Black Patch, a public broadcast documentary about her tobacco farming family of western Kentucky. Ten generations of her family have made a life from the land of their forbearers. From 1832 until today, Bryant’s ancestors have grown and cured dark-fired tobacco in the Black Patch region of western Kentucky. The Black Patch is so called because of the unusual firing process used in tobacco production.

This presentation is sponsored in part by the Kentucky Humanities Council, in partnership with the Anderson County Public Library.
