AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE-Special Education Series

When: Thursday beginning June 9 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Where: Anderson Adult Learning Center at 219 East Woodford Street with certified instructor and deaf educator, Arlene Hoffman.
Cost: $69 for 8 weeks 
Description: This course is designed for parents, staff and special education teachers who work specifically with special needs children.  Students will learn how to develop communication skills through basic American Sign Language and gestures. The voice and written communication are kept to a minimum.  Deaf cultural studies are components studied throughout the course to understand more about the deaf community. The classes are for students 16 years and older. A Course Completion Certificate is given at the end of the class.

Please bring lined paper or notepad and a pencil or pen. Students need to purchase a new/used book titled: A Basic Course in American Sign Language by Tom Humphries and Carol Padden for this class.
