2016 Art Trail

November 5, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Anderson County Art Trail has become a staple event here in the county every November.  Now going in its fifth year, the event features local artists that open their studios to the public that day and offer a great experience to those traveling the trail from location to location.  With the popularity of the trail growing, the original members of the trail and others decided to create an official organization to help expand the event even more.

Called the Anderson County Arts Council, the organization is dedicated to promoting a local passion for the arts and becoming a model organization for the rest of the state.  Karine Maynard, president of the council, said that with the trail official organized, they can now work with other organizations, accept donations, and attract others who may want to join in the effort.

Karine and the other members of the trail were originally encouraged to form an official organization after meeting with the Anderson County Tourism Board.  Among other benefits, the tourism board wanted to help the trail but needed an official organization to represent it before it could help.  Once it became official, the tourism board gave the council $1000 to help with the effort.

The council is planning and looking forward to the upcoming Art Trail this year, which will be held on November 5th.  Talk and plans are being made to maybe have live performances at some of the studios and to bring in other artists for live demonstrations to enhance the experience.

Five locations will be joining the trail this year, including Marianne Brown Pottery, Maynard Studios, Crosswinds Pottery, Elements Clay Studio, and the Frame Clinic & Art Alley on Main Street.  “So what a great thing that Anderson County has so many professional artists,” Karine said.
