Lawrenceburg Police Chief Atkins Announces Retirement

Lawrenceburg Police Chief Chris Atkins announced his retirement from the force last night during the Lawrenceburg City Council meeting.

Chief Atkins explained that he will be retiring at the end of the month.  While addressing the council, he said, “I just want to say thank you to all of you…for making it so easy and so fun.”

He feels that he is leaving the department in good shape with a mix of young and experienced officers.  He explained that they are heading in the right direction and have good ideas in patrolling the city.

Mayor Goodlett thanked Chief Atkins for his 25 years of service and explained that Lieutenant Mike Schell will be the interim chief until a permanent one is selected.  “I feel very confident that he can move right along where we left off,” Mayor Goodlett said.
