Run and Show Off Your Dog to Help Humane Society

Take your dog for a walk and show him or her off next Saturday for the Anderson Humane Society’s Mutt Strut 5K and Healthy People/Healthy Pets Fair and Dog Show.

The race and dog show event will features lots of wagging tails at the Anderson County park where dogs and their owners will get a chance to race for great prizes.  Starting at the pavilion next to the baseball fields, dogs and owners will get leis for each round walked or run.  At the end of the race, the top three winners of each age class will get a specially designed paw print medal, and the top female and male runners will receive a special gift.

After the race, the fun will continue with the Healthy People/Healthy Pets Fair and Dog Show where everyone in the community can show off their dogs, competing in amusing categories.  From best dressed and best trick to waggiest tail and hairiest canine, there are lots of fun options.  In addition to the dog show, there will be vendors and games setup for families to play.

All net proceeds from both events will go to help pay veterinary bills for the animals sheltered at the Anderson Humane Society.

The 5K will start on October 7th at 9am with registration starting at 8:30.  Those who pre-register before October 2nd will be guaranteed a t-shirt.  The dog show will start at 10:30 with all participants needing to be present before 10am.  For more information on the race and a full list of categories for the dog show, click here.  To pre-register for the race, click here.
