National TV Show to Film at Burgoo and New Events

The Anderson County Burgoo Festival is just about here once again with some new activities as well as drawing the attraction from a national star and TV show.

According to the new Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Joint Tourism Director Kendall Clinton at last night’s Lawrenceburg City Council Meeting, the city was recently contacted by representatives from the INSP Channel to see if they could film a segment for their show called “State Plate” which is hosted by American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks.

Kendall explained that the show covers various farms, markets, and festivals in different states, and they will be filming in Kentucky during the Anderson County Burgoo Festival.  They will be heading to Lawrenceburg during the festival to film segments on the hot brown, burgoo, benedictine spread, bourbon balls, and more during the entire weekend.  Kendall also suggested that they are working on possibly getting Taylor to sing at the burgoo stage.

In addition to the TV filming, director of the festival, Larry Simpson, explained that there will be more rides this year as well as a new fishing tournament.  Booths are also still available for any vendor who would like to sell during the festival.

The Anderson County Burgoo Festival will be starting on September 22nd through the 24th.  Click here for a full list of events.  You can also view a preview of the State Plate show here.
