Helping others runs deep here in Lawrenceburg, and a local business will be collecting donations to help the thousands of victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The owners of the new Bearcat Den on Hilltop Drive, Russell and Kelly Vaden, felt strong compassion to help those that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas as a way to be an example for others.  “We have an opportunity, even in tragedy, where we can teach our youth the importance of serving others!  Collectively as a community we can do great things,” Kelly wrote.

They will be accepting donations Monday through Friday from 6-9pm, Saturday from 5:30-7:30pm or Sunday from 12:30-6pm at the Bearcat Den of various non-perishable items to help the victims recover.  They then will be delivering the donated items to the local Red Cross chapter to bring them to the victims.

Below is a list of items they will be accepting:

Cleaning Supplies: dish soap, disinfectant wipes and bleach, heavy duty trash bags, latex gloves, laundry detergent, mops, brooms and shovels, spray cleaners and work gloves

Personal hygiene: deodorant, feminine hygiene products, hand sanitizer, razors and shaving cream, shampoo and conditioner, bar or liquid soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss and mouthwash

Bottled water, cat and dog food, non-perishable food items (no glass)

They will also be accepting school supplies as well new or used sports equipment for kids. “Some of these families have lost everything and any little bit will help,” Kelly said.
