Joint Tourism Commission Hires Executive Director

The Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Joint Tourism Commission has hired its first full-time executive director. The commission is excited to announce that they have hired Kendall Clinton, formerly with the Dothan Eagle in Dothan, Alabama.

Kendall has more than 21 years of journalism experience, having served as an editor and reporter for the newspaper. Over the years, Kendall has been instrumental in communicating and coordinating several highly successful community activities. The commission looks forward to Kendall’s excitement and professionalism leading the way as they redevelop tourism in Anderson County.

“He would be a fantastic hire! He’s bright, hardworking & dedicated,” Jim Whittum, Retired Dothan Eagle Publisher, commented. “He was one of the best employees I had in all my years. He’s creative and innovative.” Jim went on to say, “When he (Kendall) took over as editor, the paper won one award after another.”

Kendall and his wife Shannon, who is also a journalist, are both natives of Kentucky and are looking forward to returning home to the Bluegrass state.

The Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Joint Tourism Commission has the support of the City of Lawrenceburg and Anderson County Fiscal Court. The City has included $100,000 in the current fiscal budget to make this position a reality. Kendall will be housed at City Hall and be a full-time city employee.

“Without the financial commitment of the City of Lawrenceburg and the continued support of the Anderson County Fiscal Court this position would not be possible.” Gabe Uebel, chairman of the Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Joint Tourism Commission, said.

The mission and purpose of the Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Joint Tourism Commission is to guide, inspire, promote, and direct tourism and convention activities for Anderson County as well as enhance, and promote the economic, cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities in Anderson County.

The Tourism Commission will have a meet and greet at Heavens to Betsy! on August 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 as well as a formal presentation at 6:30.  All are invited to come meet Kendall Clinton and current tourism commissioners.

The Tourism commission meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. at Heavens to Betsy! located at 116 S. Main St., Lawrenceburg, KY. Meetings are open to the public.
