Giving young children the best possible opportunities is something that Children’s Landing Day and Learning Center tries to do every day.

Stephanie Alves, owner and director of the center, has been working in day care for over 24 years.  She has owned and operated Children’s Landing for the past 18 years.

The facility, which is licensed to take a total of 84 children including 10 infants, is currently at level 2 in the state’s STARS rating and will be reaching level 3 in August.  This means that they go considerably above and beyond the state’s requirements for daycares and include Handwriting Without Tears in part of their curriculum.

Shawna Stratton, lead teacher at Children’s Landing, explained that they are very goal oriented and believe that the first five years of a child’s life is very critical to their later development.  She said that they work on giving as many opportunities for the children to learn to play and build social development.

They also want to make the children and parents as comfortable as possible.   “We are family oriented here.  We love the kids like as if they’re our own,” Shawna said.  They also keep open communications with parents.
