Children of Anderson County are in for a blast of fun and learning this summer as the Anderson Public Library plans to kick off their summer reading program on June 26th.

Themed on Building a Better World, the program will have children and parents working together to build something like a sculpture or city out of craft items for a chance to win either a Kindle Fire tablet or a Kindle Paperwhite.  Children will also receive a new book for reading and recording what they read in a log.

According to children’s librarian, Sherry Noon, this year’s program will also have lots of new shows and educational entertainment for children across the county.  “I try to get really good shows because kids work so hard all year,” she said.

Some of the new shows will include a building show, safari animals, science show, magic and comedy, and much more (see below for a full schedule).  All shows will be held at either the Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg or the First Baptist Church.

Families will need to register for the free program at the Anderson Public Library at their temporary location on Industrial Road and all building projects are due by July 12th to qualify for the drawing.
