The 10th Annual Anderson Humane Society Garden Party held this past Saturday was a large success, despite the thunderstorms that arrived during the party.

According AHS president, Karen Tucker, the party attracted more guests this year than last year and raised over $15,000 for the society.  She explained the funds will help keep the humane society operating for about three months time.

The party was again hosted at the residence of Becky and Gene Wilhoit on South Main Street.  It featured a number of new attractions including a “Tastes of Lawrenceburg” buffet organized by Chef Adam Shrout, former owner of the Talk of the Town Restaurant, featuring many of the restaurants from around the county.  Native American group, Ancestral Winds, also provided live music.

The silent auctions at the party featured a number of new genres in addition to local artwork. They included artwork from local students, gift baskets from local businesses, and a signed book by award winning garden designer Jon Carloftis.  Karen thanked Brenda Gardner of Frame Clinic and Art Alley as well as Roger and Karen Whitehouse for their dedication of making the silent auctions a success.
