Great Daycares: Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg

Principal Sandra Bowman and Michelle Robinson

As a way to help improve school readiness across the county, we have teamed up with the Anderson County Community Early Childhood Council to highlight all the great daycares for young children in the county.  The first in the series features the Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg:

Parents with young children have a great Christian based option for daycare in Anderson County, with an incredible 5 STAR rating by the state.

The Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg, located on North Main Street, not only has a great educational program for children from Kindergarten to high school, but it also has one of the best rated daycares in the county. Their daycare was the first to receive a 5 STAR rating in the county through the Kentucky All STARS program.

According to the director of daycare at the school, Michelle Robinson, the ratings are based on a number of factors, including qualifications of the instructors, relationships with families, curriculum, community out reach, and more. Daycares that are part of the program are rigorously evaluated, and CAL received the top rating.

Sandra Bowman, principal at CAL, explained that the school utilizes two academically advanced curriculums that are faith based: A Beka and Bob Jones. The programs introduce children ages 2-4 to letter sounds, hands on science and math concepts, as well as an advanced music program.

But what makes the CAL daycare unique is their faith based lessons as well as inclusiveness with the older children at the school. Sandra explained that preschoolers get to participate in a number of schoolwide programs and interact with the older children.
