Students at Robert B Turner Elementary had two special furry visitors on Tuesday.  Kentucky author Leigh Anne Florence, her husband Ron, and her two dachshunds, Woody and Chloe, visited the school to motivate the students and share ways to be successful.

Leigh Anne is a well known Kentucky author and speaker who has written a number of children’s books based on her two dachshunds.  The books feature educational stories based on Woody and Chloe with subjects including traveling across the state as well as wilderness survival, and even Kentucky’s role in the Civil War and respecting each other.

Originally working as a music education teacher, Leigh Anne started her writing career by incorporating some of these stories into her classroom.  With encouragement from her husband Ron, she decided to write the stories down and created her first book, and then submitted it to publishers.  Although she was met with early rejection, she persevered and was able to get her book published.

With her first book published, she decided to take her show on the road, and in 2003, she began traveling the state, speaking at schools, churches and more.  Visiting 117 out of 120 counties in the state, she has spread her message on how to be successful to many thousands of people, including the students at Robert B Turner.
