New Restaurant to Feature College Team Named Sandwiches

Lawrenceburg will soon be home to a new restaurant featuring burgers and sandwiches named after colleges and universities sports teams, even including the Anderson County High School Bearcats.

Jennifer McGaughey has been working in the restaurant business around Lawrenceburg for 40 years and decided to branch out on her own and create her own place.  Acquiring what was the location of Lane’s Diner on Glensboro Road next to Hometown Pizza, she and her family are working hard on recreating the old diner into Reds Tavern.

She explained the new restaurant will specialize in creating stuffed burgers, or also called inside out burgers.  And all of the sandwiches will named after SEC universities, like the Wildcat Bacon Blue which will be an 8oz burger stuffed with blue cheese and bacon.

Others include the LSU Tiger burger with cajun seasoning, Monterey jack, green chiles, red onions, and jalapenos as well as a chicken sandwich named after the University of Louisville Cardinals.  The ACHS Bearcats will also have their own burger named after them.

But, Reds Tavern will also feature more than just burgers and sandwiches.  Jennifer explained that they will be having special Fridays and Saturdays where they will be serving steaks and seafood, including ribeye and catfish.

Jennifer said that they are planning to open by March 7th at 11am as they work hard in remodeling the restaurant.  For more information, check out their Facebook page.
