Yesterday marked the final change for the venerable Farmers Bank and Capital Trust as its name was officially changed to United Bank, after serving the community for almost 167 years to the day.

According to Chris Thompson, vice president at the Main Street branch, the company decided to change its name across the four affiliate banks that were part of the company.  First Citizens in Elizabethtown, United Bank in Versailles and Georgetown, and Citizens Bank in northern Kentucky were all part of the Farmers Bank group.

Chris explained the change will allow customers to go to any of the 30 branches across the state and receive the same options and services they originally received as part of the smaller affiliate bank.  It will also allow for better efficiency and customer service.
