A New Twist on Valentine’s Gifts

Although Valentine’s Day is traditionally filled with flowers, chocolates, and cards for loved ones, Elements Clay Studios on Bonds Mill Road has come up with a new twist for the holiday.

Susan Burge, owner and founder of Elements, decided to create pottery kits for children and adults to enjoy creating from the comfort of home and then fire them using the kiln at her studio if needed.  “It’s a fun thing for the kids to make mom and dad a Valentine’s gift,” she said.

She has a number of different kits made to suit the skills and desire of the artist.  Some include clay and tools to sculpt an item while others include pre-fired Valentine’s items, like heart dishes, along with glazes and brushes to paint them.

Although those will require firing in her kiln to complete, which will take considerable time to complete, she also has kits that can be completed at home.  For the budding potter, she has air dried clay kits that do not require a kiln to dry.  Susan also created a Valentine ornament kit with hearts, acrylic paints, brushes, stickers and more.
