An Anderson County native and former Anderson County High School student has his eye on playing professional football.  Logan Woodside’s ultimate passion is football, and it has been showing as he finishes his college career.

Logan grew up here in Anderson County alongside his family, and ever since he was in third grade, he wanted to be a quarterback.  He started playing in the little leagues here in the county and both his father, Jason, and others in the community coached him along the way.

Jason, who played college football when he was younger and knew a number of players that were drafted into the NFL, knew what was needed to succeed and saw great potential in his son.  “Need a little bit of luck, a lot of hard work, and you gotta have athletic ability,” he said.

With guidance from his father and mentorship from his best friend, Jacob Russell who is the grandson of Wild Turkey’s Jimmy Russell, Logan took his game to the next level.  Although Logan only went to ACHS until after his sophomore year before transferring and graduating at Franklin County, he got a number of football scholarship offers from various universities.

Deciding on the University of Toledo, he has been the star quarterback of the Toledo Rockets.  He has broken a number of records, including having 505 passing yards in a single game, most passing touchdowns in a season, 4129 yards total in a season, and the longest touchdown pass of 98 yards.  He also was nominated for the Heisman Trophy as well as led the nation in touchdown passes.

Although he still has another year to play football at Toledo, he is weighing his options and has hopes for a professional quarterback career.  He thanks everyone that has been following him and supporting him throughout his career.  He says that their believing in him has been a great a motivation.
