Main Street Lawrenceburg was full of Christmas spirit last night for the first annual “Light Up Lawrenceburg” event.  Sponsored by the city and downtown merchants, the event drew hundreds of residents to enjoy watching all the Christmas lights on Main Street be turned on as well as great music, performances, sales and free food and beverages.

Starting by the Judge Executive’s office, Alton Christian Church brought part of their annual live nativity scene to Main Street complete with a camel and donkey that children got to pet.  They will be having their full nativity at the church from December 2nd through the 4th from 6pm to 9pm.

Merchants around Main Street also got in the holiday spirit and were giving away free hot chocolate and food tasting.  Personal Chef Laura Hahnes was at Tastefully Kentucky serving delicious holiday tastings of favorite recipes cooked with many Kentucky Proud foods.

At the new parking lot, chorus singers from the Anderson County High School were giving great performances of holiday classics.  The Lawrenceburg Choir, directed by Meredith Hyatt Lewis from the Lawrenceburg Academy of Performing Arts, ushered in the lights as the city lit up Main Street.  Santa Claus was also at the Anderson County Clerk’s office.

Altogether, the new event was an absolute success.  Be sure to watch the video below of all the different performances of the night.
