Yesterday was a special day at Sand Spring Baptist Church.  Pastor Mike Hamrick held a moving first responders appreciation service at the church to thank our local first responders on a day that will always be remembered, the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

For the service, they invited representatives from all local first responders including city police, sheriff’s office, city and county fire departments, EMS, county coroner, as well as the Kentucky State Police, the Department of Fish and Wildlife and Frankfort Fire and EMS.  “We want to say thank you,” Pastor Mike said to all the first responders there for making a difference in our community.

He specifically wanted to thank all the responders for making Lawrenceburg so safe.  According to an FBI list, he said that Lawrenceburg was listed as the #2 safest mid-size city in the state and #8 overall. “Outside of northern Kentucky, the safest place you can live in Kentucky is in Lawrenceburg,” Pastor Mike said.

Each first responder present were given gifts as well as the families of Officer Kenny Goodlett and Trooper Eric Chrisman who both passed away last year.  “We honor these two men and you all that are here this morning as our heroes, and we appreciate the sacrifices that you have made for us,” he said.
