The 2016 Kentucky State Senior Games continued this weekend with three Anderson County residents competing and two of them winning gold medals.  The games, which is hosted by the United Way of Franklin County, included tennis and disc golf competitions this weekend.

Despite the intense heat this weekend, Anderson County resident Robert “Greg” Higgins with Vince Lang (60-64) competed in the tennis singles and doubles tournament at Ben Moore Courts in Franklin County. He played hard and both qualified to go to the national competition in Birmingham, Alabama.

On Sunday, both Lawrenceburg residents Rex Richardson (55-59) and Ricky Spaulding (50-54) were at the East Frankfort Park on Sunday for the disc golf competition.  They both won gold medals in the competition.

Other Anderson County residents, including Kathy Wright, Richard York, and Holly Corbett will be competing in men’s and women’s golf and pickleball in September.  Robert Higgins will also compete again in the track and field competition.  For a full schedule of events and locations, check out the Kentucky Senior Games website.
