Not only was it the first home game of Anderson County High School Football against George Rogers Clark, it was also a special night for the Ware family.  The Bearcat Football Field was named tonight after legendary Bearcat football player Bob Ware.

Bob was a 1969 graduate of ACHS and continued on to earn a SEC scholarship as a University of Kentucky Wildcat.  As a player, he earned a number of accomplishments, including 1969 Co-Captain of the East Team in the East-West All Star Game, 1968 Herald Leader and Courier Journal 1st Team All State, 1968 Courier Journal Class A 1st Team All State, Associated Press 1st Team All State, United Press International 1st Team All State, Prep All American Honorable Mention, and many more.

While attending UK, he earned a Master’s degree in civil engineering.  After graduating, he and his wife Pam helped the Bearcat football program through financial support.  Unfortunately, Bob passed in February 2013.  However, he was honored tonight with the unveiling of a sign with his name looking down on the field from atop the press box.
