Summer Program for Kids Dedicated to Help Others

Helping others is a big tradition here in Lawrenceburg, even for the youngest residents.  An amazing group of children, led by Pastor Mark Wells from Fox Creek Christian Church, has been performing a community service project every Tuesday since June as part of a summer program.

The group, called “Dirty Hands,” was out in force yesterday.  One part of the group visited the Anderson County Senior Center to hand out water bottles to all the members.

According to Mark, they were out giving water to many different people, including workers on construction sites, to help combat the heat. “Because it’s been so hot these last couple of weeks, they’ve decided they wanted to give out water,” Mark said.

Everyone at the senior center and the construction sites were incredibly grateful of the big hearts of these children.  “Everybody has been really appreciative,” Mark said.

Younger kids were also involved in another project.  They were helping with the Backpack Buddies program, packing oatmeal for other kids in need.
