This afternoon, the Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg held their scholarships and awards banquet for very deserving students.  Among the many awards and scholarships given, there were notable firsts and achievements.

For scholarships, both Brooklyn Carpenter and Brette Elliot received the first Eric K Chrisman Memorial Scholarships, which was made in honor of State Trooper Eric Chrisman who passed away last year from a car accident in the line of duty.  Presenting the $2000 scholarships and representing the Chrisman family, Coach Cory Robinson, who also coached Eric when he attended the school, said, “We miss Eric so much, and we pray to God that Eric’s message still lives on.”  After looking through all the applications for the scholarships, they chose two very qualified students and said that Eric’s message still lives on today.

In addition to the Chrisman Memorial Scholarships, Brooklyn and Brette also received numerous scholarships from their schools, University of the Cumberlands and Asbury University, that they will be attending in the fall.  Ashley Moses also received a $300 scholarship from Alton Ruritan.

Another graduating senior, Evan Cornett, received a number of scholarships.  Donna Crain Drury presented him with a $2000 scholarship from the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club, and Nancy Rueger from the Anderson County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy presented him with a $500 scholarship.  Asbury University also presented him with three scholarships worth tens of thousands of dollars.
