County Clerk Thanks Everyone for Their Help with Election Day

Anderson County Clerk Jason Denny sent in this letter to thank all those who helped make election day this past Tuesday in the county go well without any major problem:

Another Election has come and gone. Even though we experienced a large voter turnout than originally thought, we had very few issues.  The State average was around 17%, and we saw approximately a 26% turnout. As usual, the Attorney General’s Office visited several of the voting locations looking for voter fraud and Election Officer Compliance. To our knowledge, none was found.

I want to THANK several for helping make Election Day go so well. I will start with my staff.  The Election Process never stops in our office.  My staff continually works to ensure that everything is ready for Election Day.  The Deputies work daily to process voter registration information along with preparing for the upcoming Election. The next group due a THANK YOU is the Anderson County Board of Elections, which includes Steve Ashburn, Bill Patterson and Chief Deputy Sheriff Joe Milam assisted by County Attorney Bobbi Jo Lewis. They are the individuals that have to make important and sometimes unpopular decisions to ensure that the integrity of the election process is intact and that each qualified voter has their vote counted.

Next, I want to THANK those that helped deliver and pickup all the Equipment to the Voting Locations.  They are Jason Chesser, Donnie Hatchett, Christian Shepherd and Dylan Jarrell. Next, I want to THANK the Anderson County Board of Education for allowing us to use their facilities to allow voters to cast their ballot on Election Day.  The Principals, Custodians and Staff at Emma B. Ward, Robert B. Turner, Anderson County High School and Anderson Middle School help us prepare and set up for this very important day.  I also want to the Anderson County Fire District for the use of the Western and Hickory Grove Fire Stations and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department for the use of their facilities at Rutherford and the work that goes along with preparing for Election Day.  All these facilities are Handicap Accessible for the public and are made ready when ever needed.

A Special THANKS goes to the Anderson County EMS and the Fiscal Court for their assistance. We also THANK those individuals that most of you see on Election Day, Election Officers!  Each year Board Members search for registered voters willing to work on Election Day.  These Election Officers receive mandatory training before each Election to ensure that all laws are followed and each qualified vote is counted.  These Election Officers work a hard 14 hour day and we THANK each of them for serving their community. At last we THANK YOU, the VOTER, for taking the time to have your VOTE counted!  We all need to appreciate the privilege that we are given and the freedom that we have to cast our vote for the person that we deem best qualified for Office.

Thank You,
Jason Denny
Anderson County Clerk
