This past Saturday was the Larry Basham Memorial United Way Golf Classic at Wild Turkey Trace.  Originally created by Larry Basham 19 years ago, the golf classic has been a tradition here in Lawrenceburg to help raise funds for the local United Way.  It has raised over $60,000 over the years which goes to helping local social programs funded by the United Way. After Larry passed away in 2014, he was honored this year by adding his name to the tournament.

Although it was cold, rainy, and windy for this year’s tournament, the golfers braved the weather to not only have fun but also help the United Way.  First place went to Tyler Hembree, Neal Wells, Mike Lacey, and Derek Craft and second went to the Springate and Springate team consisting of Chandler Gilbert, Warren Kinney, David Montgomery, and Derek Poole.  Gus Parks won closest to the pin and Hayley Elder won the longest drive competition.
