Experience Creates Great Hair

Cutting and styling hair is an everyday affair, but at Mo’s Uppercuts, it’s a long tradition.  Maureen Bryant, the owner of Mo’s, has been styling hair for 28 years ever since she graduated at the Kaufman Beauty College in Lexington.  After she graduated, she worked at Metro Hair Design in Lexington for five years where she learned even more.

She then worked in Frankfort for several years where she met her future husband who was from Lawrenceburg.  She decided to work at a shop on Hilltop Drive after getting married.  From there, the other stylist at that shop decided to branch off on her own and Maureen decided to keep the store.

Maureen then moved her shop from Hilltop over to Glensboro Road across the street from Century Bank.  At the new location, more stylists decided to join her and her business grew.  A few years later, she had the opportunity to expand again to a new location further on down Glensboro Road across the street from Walmart.

With three stylists joining her, Melinda Shirley, Barbie Shifflet, and Maddie Drury, they have a combined experience of 66 years in the industry.  They have experience in just about all areas of hair styling, including coloring, foils, perms, coloring to match extensions, and more.  They also keep up with new techniques by going to Nashville every year for continuing education.

Besides being a full walk in salon that takes care of men, women, and children, they also take care of special needs children.  Maureen has worked with a number of autistic children and Melinda can communicate with the deaf.
