Incredible Edible Book Contest was Incredibly Fun

Last night, the Anderson Public Library held their annual Incredible Edible Book Contest as part of their weekly family fun night.  Families and their children created absolutely fun and amazing treats and meals based on various children’s books.  Some of the entries included spectacular renditions of Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons, the Three Little Pigs, and more.  They then took their creations to the library to show them off and have them judged to determine the top three winners.  The three judges were Anderson County Schools Superintendent, Sheila Mitchell, Anderson County Jailer, Joani Clark, and Dairy Queen manager, Jacob Cox.  Together, the judges picked out the best for taste and presentation.  While the judges tasted all the great food, the families and children enjoyed pizza and coloring.  After a long deliberation, the judges picked the following winners:

1st Place: Gracie Schweighardt with the Three Little Pigs
2nd Place: Kaitlyn and Connor McCoy with Peter Spit a Seed at Sue
3rd Place: Preston and Hollie Powell with Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons

The winners all received Kindle tablets for children and varying amounts of gift cards to La Isla and Dairy Queen.  A number of others won fun door prizes and everyone got coupons for a free ice cream cone at Dairy Queen.
