With the large snow storm approaching, many of us were out shopping, buying supplies in preparation for what’s to come.  But, three amazing and dedicated people braved the cold and snow that was already on the ground to continue helping a family in need.  Director of the LIGHT Center, Bryan Proctor, along with center volunteers Larry and Donna Crain Drury, decided to brave the cold and clean all the debris from the interior demolition of the Rankin home so it wouldn’t be covered by the upcoming snow.

The Rankin home has been a large scale community project with the goal to give back to those that help others.  Patricia Rankin, known for her extensive volunteering at Saffell Street Elementary School, needed help to repair her family’s home, and the community has responded greatly.  Starting with Saffell Street teachers and the principal, the renovation project has seen numerous organizations, businesses, and volunteers come together to give back to the family by fixing their home.  And, yesterday was the latest chapter in the project with three volunteers making sure the project will continue despite the severe weather.
