ACHS Football Field Officially Named

Teresa McWilliams

At today’s Anderson County School Board meeting, the Anderson County High School football field was officially named.  Teresa McWilliams presented a request to the board to name the field Bob Ware Field within the Hollie J Warford Jr Stadium.  Bob Ware, who was a 1969 graduate from ACHS, was an outstanding athlete at the school.  He would achieve all-state and all-American and receive a scholarship from the University of Kentucky and become a civil engineer.  After serving many years at the Division of Water at the Kentucky Environmental Protection Cabinet and the Kentucky River Authority Board, he passed away in February of 2013.

In support of the naming, chairman of the board, Lee Hahn, read a moving letter from ACHS principal Chris Glass.  Members of the board, James Sargent and Donna Crain Drury, also spoke out in favor of the naming, noting Bob’s impact on the community and character.  The board unanimously approved it.
