Local Restaurant Owner and Customers Help Donate Meals to Those in Need

In the spirit of giving, a local restaurant owner and her customers are giving back to the community by offering good and nutritious meals to families which normally wouldn’t be able to afford it.  Ciara Hyatt of Homemade Takeout started her unique business three years ago in a small kitchen on Jackson Street across from Farmers Bank.  Her restaurant, which only offers takeout of classic American dishes during a few nights a week, has become a popular place for great meals.

For this coming Christmas season, Ciara decided to give back to the community as a way for people to feel love and hope during the season.  So she took one of her more popular meals, meatloaf along with mashed potatoes and green beans, and offered it up to the community free of charge.  She said that she has been able to feed several families who would normally not be able to afford it.  She’s also had several regular customers sponsor more meals to give to those in need.  Ciara said that she hopes to be able to do more meals like this in the future and is incredibly grateful to be able to give back to the community.
