Shop with a Cop Program Brings Blessings to Many Local Children Today

Today, our deputies from the Anderson County Sheriffs Office along with many volunteers spent their morning doing some Christmas shopping to help give back to our community.

The Anderson County Sheriffs Office annual “Shop with a Cop” event has been giving the less fortunate children and their families of Anderson County the opportunity to have a wonderful Christmas since 2008. Each of the children team up with a deputy and spend the morning visiting stores for clothes, shoes, toys and other gifts for themselves and/or their family members. Throughout the year, fundraisers were held and donations were given to this awesome program from individuals as well as many local business including Hadawreck, MisT’s Fit Factory, The Mix, Bluegrass Chiro, Don Pedro’s Mexican Restaurant and many more. A large portion of the donation come directly from the Anderson County Sheriff Office fundraiser, Evil Lake Haunted Mansion, which takes place during the month of October.

This program has been increasing throughout the years, giving back to so many children and their families to provide a chance to have a great Christmas. “I am so fortunate to work with office staff, family and friends that are willing to donate two months of their time raising money at our annual haunted house to make one day so special for a child. Thank you is never enough to the businesses and individuals that donate money that keeps this program and several others going to benefit the children of Anderson County. I am grateful to live and work in such a caring community. Merry Christmas from everyone with Shop With A Cop,” says Troy Young, Anderson County Sheriff.
