Saffell Street Choir Sings at Senior Center

The Saffell Street Elementary Choir was Christmas caroling at all the stores around Main Street today and finished up their singing at the Anderson County Senior Center for their Holiday Open House, which is a fundraising event with a traditional money tree.  The choir, led by Meredith Hyatt Lewis for the tenth year now, sang a number of carols and songs for the audience, which included both Judge Executive Orbrey Gritton and County Clerk Jason Denny, at the center which was greatly enjoyed by all.  Meredith also featured three students that were selected for the Kentucky All State Children’s Chorus.  Over 600 applied for the chorus but only 215 were selected from around the state.  Out of those 215, three from Saffell Street Elementary were chosen for that honor, including Jessica Downing, Mackenzie Smith, and Remani Fogle.  Congratulations to all three, and be sure to watch the choir perform in the video above.  They’ll also be performing for a special holiday event at the elementary school starting at 6pm with free admission.
