Born Learning Academy Offering Unique Workshops for Parents

The Barnes Family

This past Thursday, the Sparrow Early Childhood Center off of US127 near the board of education building offered their second in a series of workshops designed to help parents to better prepare their children for school.  During this past May, Anderson County Schools received a United Way Born Learning Academy grant to help put together these free workshops.  After much work, the school district held their first workshop this past September which was very successful.  For October’s workshop, they had quite a number of families attend to learn how to build a better relationship with their young children that are under two years old.  They were shown ways on how to read a child’s behavior to know what they need or want and how to interact with them to further enhance communication abilities.  They also were served some good food and had great craft projects for the children that attended.  The next Born Learning Academy workshop will be held on November 19th.

For more information about the workshops, check out the SECC’s Facebook page.
