ACHS Bearcats Football and Soccer Win Big

The Anderson County High School Bearcats football and soccer teams had great wins on Thursday and Friday nights.  The football team was at Woodford County last night for the first district game of the season. Although Jacob Brady #75 was injured early in the game, the Bearcats took a resounding lead in the first quarter.  Ryan Martin #20 caught a pass from Gunner Gillis #9 for the first touchdown of the game.  Tyler Peters #2 ran in another touchdown just a short time before Woodford County fumbled giving Ryan Martin the opportunity to score again right before the end of the first quarter.

But Anderson County wasn’t done.  John Garmon #3 caught and ran the ball for a massive 62 yard touchdown bringing the score to 28-0.  However, Woodford County tried to get back on track a little bit with scoring their own touchdown before the end of the half.  They then tried for two points but failed ending the half at 28-6.

During the second half, Woodford tried again to recover, getting another touchdown but failed at getting any extra points.  But, the Bearcats weren’t done.  John Garmon got to score another touchdown bringing the total to 35-12.  However, the Bearcats would be intercepted and fumble giving Woodford two more opportunities to score, eroding the strong Bearcat lead to 35-26.  Woodford County tried hard to make up the final points, but couldn’t, letting the Bearcats win at 35-26.

The Bearcats soccer team was also playing on Thursday night.  They faced off against Frankfort for an away game.  The team scored well, winning the game 3-1.  They will also be playing today at noon for their Senior Day game which is the last game of the regular season.
