The Anderson County School District has seen good improvements this year and the state has taken notice.  Both Emma B Ward and Robert B Turner Elementary schools were awarded distinguished ratings this year in the state report card on schools in Kentucky.  According to Sheila Mitchell, both elementary schools have done extremely well and are now in the top 10% of all schools in the state for Turner and the top 20% for Ward.  This was the second year in a row for Turner to have a distinguished rating.

The rest of the schools have also seen much improvement.  Saffell Street Elementary has had strong improvements in all areas, especially math.  The Anderson Middle School, although not rated nearly as strong as the elementary schools, is working on improvements.  The Anderson County High School scored considerably well, with significant gains in nearly all content areas.  The district as a whole received a proficient rating and was very close to receiving a distinguished rating.

Sheila Mitchell indicated that she was incredibly proud of the teachers, staff, and students who put in the hard work and dedication to allow the excellent ratings for the schools.  She said that she was also thankful for the parents and community for the help and support that goes into the district.
