A new upscale family oriented consignment shop has just recently opened here in Lawrenceburg.  Mary Halmhuber opened the Purple Ladder Consignment store last month after working at the Kentucky State government for 13 years.  She said that she wanted to try something totally different and loved consignment stores.  Realizing that Lawrenceburg didn’t have a consignment store that she envisioned, she decided to open one here near the Anderson Apothecary and Best Western hotel right off of US127.

The Purple Ladder, according to Mary, is about providing quality and style without having to go to Lexington.  She’s currently focused on providing clothing for everyone in the family, from accessories to shoes.  She also takes requests for particular items that a customer might want but doesn’t currently carry.

Like most consignment stores, the Purple Ladder will accept new or gently used items, and when the items sell, a percentage of the sale then goes back to the original owner.  If an item doesn’t sell within 90 days, the original owner can come pick up the items at no charge.
