Small Fire at YKK Plant

Fire Chief Bobby Hume

A little before 10am this morning, a small fire was reported at the YKK plant #2 off of Industrial Road.  According to YKK officials, the plant was evacuated and the Lawrenceburg Fire Department was called to the scene.  The fire was quickly extinguished by a YKK employee.  According to Fire Chief Bobby Hume, an electric motor created a spark that fell in a ditch line creating a fire.  The ditch line should not have had any flammable substances in it, however.  Bobby Hume then explained that this is an unknown at this time, and the YKK emergency response team has been called in to further investigate what happened.  No injuries were reported.
